Physiology
Action potential propagation along a myelinated nerve fibre

Description
A schematic of how a nerve impulse travels along a myelinated axon of the peripheral nervous system, starting at the axon hillock. It shows the signal jumping between the unmyelinated gaps (nodes of Ranvier), known as saltatory conduction.
